32 Handy Google Chrome Extensions for Web Developers | SpyreStudios
Watching the browser wars unfold has been interesting. Mozilla Firefox was possibly the king only a few years ago, whereas now it seems Google Chrome has taken much of their market shares. For those who use Chrome it may have some bugs but ultimately runs much quicker and scales better than Firefox. And while Mozilla has an Extensions gallery, Google has launched an extensions gallery side-by-side with Chrome. In here developers are able to create small browser extensions and tie into 3rd party APIs for some magnificent features. The installation process is simple, efficient, and leaves you begging for more. Web developers should be especially interested in Google Chrome as they strive for perfection in browser testing. Scaling your website between the many browsers today is difficult. Luckily Chrome is one of the better software partners out there, and in celebration I’ve collection 32 extensions specifically targeted towards web developers. Install a few see what you think, and please offer any extensions you’ve personally found in the comments section! Web Clipboard by Google

Exploring CouchDB
Relational databases define a strict structure and provide a rigid way to maintain data for a software application. Apache’s open source CouchDB offers a new method of storing data, in what is referred to as a schema-free document-oriented database model. Instead of the highly structured data storage of a relational model, CouchDB stores data in a semi-structured fashion, using a JavaScript-based view model for generating structured aggregation and report results from these semi-structured documents. CouchDB has been developed from the ground up with Web applications as the primary focus and has its sights on becoming the de-facto database for Web application development.

The Secrets of Effective Technical Talks: How to Explain Tech without Tucking Them In! | Tech·Ed North America 2010 | Channel 9
SIA334 One of the most essential professional skills in any organization is communication: you’ve got to be as successful in talking to the carbon units as you are in talking to the silicon units, or even your greatest ideas will fall on deaf ears. (At least, that’s the case until the silicon units start controlling salaries and budgets.) The sad fact, though, is that most of us hate the idea of presenting ideas and concepts, whether in giving a short training session on a new piece of software or in pitching a new IT project to the boss. People fear public speaking more than death, some authorities claim and that may be true, but that fear is easily fixed — just learn twelve steps to effective presentation, and you’ll find that giving talks can be a whole lot of fun. Today’s tough economic times have led many of us to wonder what skills we’ll need to stay in IT over the next five, ten, or twenty years; come to this talk to improve, enhance, and polish what may well be the most important of those skills. Join popular twenty-five-year veteran techie presenter Mark Minasi and techie rock star Mark Russinovich, both of whose talks regularly rank in the top ten of Tech·Ed talks, as they explain The Twelve Tips To Topnotch Technical Talks in this fast-paced, entertaining and informative explanation of, well, how to give an explanation!
